The plastic injection molding process is a manufacturing method for producing plastic injection parts. Before the process begins, an experienced mold maker creates the mold or tool used to make the part. The mold includes two halves (core and cavity) and contains all the geometry and features that make up the part specifications.
The plastic injection molding process cycle in 9 steps:
1. Material enters the barrel
2. Material melts and mixes
3. Mold closes
4. Shot sizes in barrel is created
5. Injection of the plastic into the mold cavity
6. Molten material cooled
7. Mold opens
8. Part ejects
9. Return to Step 3 for the next cycle
